western horsemanship
.

the
above photo is correct rider position for western horsemanship...if you were to hang a string off my ear
it would hang
straight down...thru the center of my shoulder...thru the center of my hip...thru the center of my heel...
just like
i am standing on the ground...squatting...im using romel reins...rein hand is at 45 degrees...off hand hangs by side
hip...this
photo was taken at a time...i was adjusting my off billet...it went immediately back down to my side..
this photo my leg is too far forward for horsemanship

this photo taken in a western pleasure class the riders positon is of no importance
ride however you need to to make your horse go best...rider should have their heels down
and toes up
in all classes...every second you are on your horse...every time you ride

this is a nice photo...but the leg and hand...position would get me last place...in a horsemanship class
can
you see why...? .

huntseat equitation

this is a nice photo but not proper English equitation......rider
has left shoulder severely dropped
this incapacitated the left hip....rider is squeezing way too hard with legs....to
hang on and maintain balance
which she is only at the edge of....heels are not lined up with hip shoulder and ear....hells
is down so she can use her calf....head is too far forward and way too tense....she does not give the impression....she could easily do this for several hours...

example of proper position for ....hunt seat equitation....this is a posting photo so the ...ear shoulder hip alignment
is not possible....however is is for the canter and the walk....the rider is relaxed ...hands are softly holding the reins
finger tips only...heels are down....leg is not gripping too tightly...shoulders are square and relaxed
head is straight....neck
is well against the back of collar...

notice the difference....this photo is in a pleasure class....rider position no importance....see how much more
forward the leg is.....how much for forward the riders head is....hardly touching the back of the collar...this is posting
so ear shoulder hip & heel alignment is not possible....this is acceptable for huntseat pleasure...bit not huntseat equitation

another example in a pleasure class...not acceptable for equitation....can
you see why...?

this is a photo of bareback pleasure.....not acceptable for equitation / horsemanship...this is loping
ear shoulder
hip heel alignment is not there....can you see this...?

proper rider position for western horsemanship....ear shoulder hip heel alignment....rein hand above withers'
off hand by side relaxed..

proper saddleseat equitation....heels down...legs more forward than huntseat...post is higher
hands are higher....chin
is higher....back is more arched upright....adjustments to post are made out of saddle
huntseat adjustment are made in
the saddle....

proper rein hand position for romal reins

proper rider position for western horsemanship....everything lines up....rider relaxed....horse relaxed
this photo
is at a jog....both look like they could do it all day long....this wins ....hard to do on a draft horse

winning bareback horsemanship.... .I'm stopping in this photo ...
.so my rein hand is up...
but if it were lowered
about 6 inches...
.to right above his withers....
.it would be smack on...
.everything lines up...relaxed straight
& square
