. . . . . . My dearest Sara, So good to hear from you. So much seems to have happened since last wrote to you. Well
not alot but a REALLY important life altering thing. ...............After days of intense prayer and lots of communing with
my lovely Livvy,................... I have decided to relenquish her to a local woman for breeding purposes. ...................I
firmly believe she will have the most beautiful babies and will make a PERFECT sport type horse................. With her
spunk and comformation, ...............she will take drafthorse peoples breath away and win the hearts of others to explore
this wonderful aspect of life. Please do not think this comes easy................. I cried for 3 straight days. But this
is for Livvy. ..............She would just be my buddy, .............not allowed to reach her full potential. ...........She
needs more than I can offer. ..................With my limitations I cant nor do I want to get into the full blown, showing/breeding thing...............
That is what she deserves. .............I feel that she is right with this decision and ready to start on a new chapter of
her life.................... I will not remain horseless though. I could not be without a horse and I decided to commit
myself to Livvys best friend................ I have commited to Cowboy, the big handsome draft cross that Livvy is so close
to. ..................His is a gentle sole that just wants to go for a ride down the lane, and enjoy the butterflys and birds,
maybe munch an apple from a tree in one of the hundreds of apple orchards we have available to ride in............... LIvvy
is the horse I needed when I was 20 and adventurous. ................Cowboy is the horse I need now that I want to look around
and take my time smelling the grass and flowers. I am not sure if you remember when I wrote you in one of my many rambling notes about him................
I had seen him first in Feb of 07. At 6 years old, .............he had just come to our stable owner from his previous
home............... He was one of a matched set in a harness pair........... His sister was his team mate.............. She
died somehow, ( I can only pray it was peaceful, as they were stablemates) and he was left alone, grieving and traumatized..................
When I first saw him he was this big handsome buckskin with a wooley mane and tail, who had a haunted lost look to his eyes
that hit me HARD!!!!!! .................The stable owner said he was a very sensitive and shy boy and needed lots of
work to pull him thru his trauma. I was not sure at the time if I could do it................. I felt he needed better
than me. ................So I passed on him and fell hard for Livvy, ..........all the time watching his progress and staying
close by to watch and try to bond with him, ..........offering what I could to help him thru his hurt. ...............I saw
him daily as I work at the stable and cleaned his corral, offered up treats and loving thoughts and words. ............The
stable owner has passed on several offers for him, as he is for sale, not feeling that these people were right for Cowboy..........................
Last month I was handed a letter from her privately. It was a plea for me to purchase him................ She said she felt
that Cowboy and I were a match and needed each other.................... This I tell you, was and honor to me..................
I had to pass due to my hubby reminding me I had no job and board bills............... So I declined. ..........Then, after
lots of agonizing over doing the worst thing for Cowboy,............ I had what can only be devine intervention. .................An
offer for Livvy, I declined at first, then the same woman came back and asked again. After consulting with Livvy,her trainer,
and the stable owner.............. (whose opnion I hold very highly and dear)................. I decided to go ahead with
the sale and purchase Cowboy.............. I am now 4000.00 in the hole again, but he is worth it and the stable owner is
so glad that she laughingly took the last $1.75 I had in my pocket as a down payment. ...............Cowboy has ridden with
me 3 times now, and I have been using an old english saddle to help me recover my sense of balance. He stops whenever I seem
unstable and stands quietly until I am ready to go..................... He is taking care of me and his eyes while no longer
haunted, reflect a sense of understanding over my sorrow in the release of Livvy. Each morning I go into his corral to clean,..............
he hangs his head over my shoulder and endures a big hug from me and occasionally the tears that follow, ............I will
be sending picks of him soon, with me on him! He has gone from haunted, grieving little boy to a big loving ball of butter.
We think he is either Quarterhorse/ Belgian or Quarterhorse/Percheron. I am leaning twards Belgian cause he does not have
the athletic Perchi build but more of that tank in the china shop look. LOL Okay,
again you have a novel! LOL I love "talking" with you, it is healing,
...... ...someday we need to talk on the phone... .... I will call you to save you the $. I know the time difference
is a challenge as well. But you name the time and day. I would LOVE to meet you
someday too. My best to you and your family, both 2and 4 legged. . . . . thank you Lori i love you for giving
so much to the horse world so much of yourself so much of your heart such

Training / Trade From: Amber Bugaiski I've been looking for a trainer
that not only uses natural horsemanship (surprisngly still hard at times to find these days).... but also experienced in drafts under saddle. I have a four year old Percheron/Belgian
cross mare
that I want trained to ride. . .I can sit on her with or without saddle etc... but that's about it, LOL....
She's more like a very slow moving riding lawn mower..... She could also use some more ...ground manners / picking
feet up for farrier
I'd just love to be able to just "spray" the fly spray on her. ...Anyhow,... I took a huge pay cut
coming back to Michigan so ...cash is a lot more strapped for me these days. ..I see you guys are big into drafts...
would you be interested in a 13 y/o Hanoverian/TB mare? ... .She was a broodmare for several years ...I've only ridden her a few times.
...I was
pretty impressed at how much ...she retained after so many years of not riding. ...She's a beautiful horse but I
need to downsize ...and there's just no way I can part with either of the two drafts... . I also have a yearling Percheron stud colt ... .(who's been a beast about them back
legs, ...LOL, if you have any suggestions there...).
So I figured I might as well see if... you'd be

grooming question
I was so excited to see someone who
actually knew what a true draft show horse under saddle should look like . .....When I got into your website
from an ebay ad,.. ... I
couldn't stop smiling. .....I have percherons, . ..one dapple grey I show saddle seat... and the other a beautiful white one thats looks.... . so refined his mane goes
down to his knees. . .I
show him western he holds more of an arch to his neck but. ... it fits him....( I also show half arabs) ...My biggest obstacle now is
conditioning so we ...are working on that. ...The two
of them are also my carriage horses....Anyways I just bought a dapple grey shire, ....whom I love dearly,... he will be getting tested by
our... mounted patrol and if he passes he will.... becoming a carriage horse too. ... My question is.. how can I get and keep his gorgeous thick feathers clean.. .. They aren't horribly bad but has some yellowing
on the back ones... ..
I have heard to keep them soft,........ keep some kind of oil on them,........ but at the same time doesn't oil attract dirt??? ...... Thank you for your time. I... know I will have

dont know if anyone else has written you yet but ............i wanted to let you know what an amazing clinic that was last
weekend.......i wish i had attended one a couple years ago when i first heard of you................i kept putting it off
..................and then i wasted money an a different clinic here in ohio.................it was dumb and i didn't
learn anything.......................it was cheap so i went.....................not saving money.....................only
wasting money and ....made me mad for not doing what i .....................really...wanted to truly do...............................................go to one of your clinics............................cost more in gas but
i learned more in 4 hours with you than i have in 20 years with all my other trainers..........................and people need to know that....................i have had alot of lesson instructors
for different events.....but after yours....i feel i have all the tools i need to
take on any new event with no other lessons from anyone................gosh....i cant believe i just said that...but
its true and you work so hard..............you need to know how we all feel about you.................i know the attendance
is down real bad at your clinics and I'm sorry for that.................i wish i could tell the whole world how amazing
and gifted you are............you teach with so much more than words............i never write anybody letters,,,,..........,ever........so

for you to publish my pictures, only if you want to - just wanted you to see what we're
doing down here in the South with our Clydes! .... .....Yes, the Under Saddle Divisions
are alive and well and very competitive here. ........ . .Normally they are the largest classes at the Draft Hitch Shows in the South. Keep up the good work in promoting these big guys for riding! .. . ......... I had requested the Clyde Breeders to take my horses' picture off their website for
over a year -...... .. was so pleased to see your's go up! .... .........Just wanted you to know - watch your back. Sometimes it's not fun being on the top, as I found out. . ....
We were on top in the Under Saddle at the Clyde Nationals for 2003 & 2004, .......but when we tried to come back
to compete at Milwaukee in 2006, . ......the Superintendent told us that they only had
room for Wisconsin exhibitors,.. ...... Big Hitches, and long time exhibitors (people that had shown for 10-20 years), .........& that we would be "unable
to attend." ... ..... We had entered on time, received our show packets, .........and
it was just a few days before we were to leave when we got the call. ....... ..
I had $800 worth of show shoes on my horses,................ worked all summer in preparation, with the health papers ready
in the truck door. .... .....................My 13 year old son was just broken hearted
as he was to show in several classes. ...................That's why we weren't at the World either,
as I felt like if there were space problems, we would be the first ones out.................. I'm proud of
my horses, & all the shows we attend are happy to have us there and I won't beg to come to a show that doesn't
have room for us. After 12 years in the Association, .............we no longer belong nor will never represent
them in any fashion. ....................... We are a small farm with only 5 show geldings (all purchased up at the National
Clyde Sale), do no breeding, so we were not important enough for them to make room for us. ............. We found
out later that they had taken in late entries for "more important $" entrants and basically just kicked us to the
curb. .......I know you don't know me, and this certainly is not your problem,..................... but just
wanted you to know that if you are entering the Nationals this summer,.... if they run out of room, which is happening every
year,.......... YOU will be the first one out! I wish someone had told me that before, and I would have handled
things so much differently. ............... Seems like the farms that threatened law suits got to go, ...........I didn't,................
so we were dismissed without the first apology or hope of ever coming back. ............... You can call me if you want
to discuss this further................. I just didn't want them doing the same thing to you that they did
to us........................Thanks for the Scratches info on your website. ..............
I have battled that with several horses, and have tried most of the remedies you have listed. I know it will help numerous
people also with the fight. Vets in many areas don't have a clue as to what to do with this. ..................Also,
for the record,........ I agree with you....... - I
ride with all normal sized saddles ...............- & pad up if & when necessary. .................. . Don't own any draft size saddles ... .............-
definitely something the saddle companies came up with to make more money to unsuspecting buyers....................... Never
had any sore backs on any horses nor any type of problems. ................... Have 21" cutback saddleseat
saddles, 16" western saddles, & 17" australian for trail riding. ...................
All work perfectly on various size draft horses..... ............Keep up the good work.
I just love seeing someone out there promoting riding and doing it with lovely

DID COME AND SAY HI THE WHOLE SHOW. ...but everyone else did. most people were super nice...especially the office ladies.. ...I TOOK CLYDE
UP TO THE FRONT OF THE ARENA STEPS EACH DAY FOR SEVERAL HOURS. .....SO PEOPLE COULD PET
AND DO WHATEVER WITH HIM.... ..THEY REALLY LOVED THAT......SO
DID CLYDE... ...MY FRIEND SAID THEY WERE MY PAPARAZZI....TOO FUNNY. .....I WISH YOU WERE THERE...... . .THERE WAS not ......many GOOD RIDING horse there THERE.. ..........THAT WAS KINDA EMBARRASSING.....I DREW WAY BIGGER CROWDS THAN the clinicians.........THAT
PISSED EM OFF....OOOPS...SORRY...SORRY ...SORRY

COMPETITORS..???????.... .i have been playing the horse show game a long time and i
have seen it all.... Sara........ Just wanted you to know what's really
been going on. There was a huge target on my back,................ cause I came out of
nowhere and kicked butt two years in a row! ..........I didn't think it would matter because most of the major
players just think the Under Saddle is a joke class anyway, so............ I didn't think they would care about me one
way or another,...... but ......................a nobody from the South kicking butt obviously didn't
seem to sit well .... Do know, that we were competitive in the cart hitch classes also. .........
We placed 6 in Ladies Cart out of 14 & I got some really nasty stares on that also. ..................Some
were nice to us up at Milwaukee, ..................but many never even spoke. Honestly, ............we were having such
a good time I didn't really notice. ........ This was the level of showing I have worked for all my life, .......&....

My name is Michelle and I am 27. I live just north of Denver, Colo. I recently found your web
site while researching Clydesdales. Of all the web sites I came across, yours offered
the most information and answered a lot of my questions! Thank you so much! I do have more though, many more. So, here
is my story :) I have been riding horses since I was a little girl, I graduated college as an equine management major with
an emphasis on horse training. I trained horses full time after college with great success! So, I greatly appriciate,
and respect the amazing work you do! I have always worked with paints and quarters which are the most popular out
here, and I have two paints of my own that I have done well with, but now I am looking to "up grade" (so to
speak) :) So I am looking to sell the two I have to buy one! My dream horse since I could remember!! A
Clydesdale!! I just know I will not be totally happy until I have one! But as I mentioned, Colorado mostly has quarter
and paint breeders. So I was wondering if you know anyone in Colorado (by chance) that breeds WELL bred
clydes? I am well versed in quarter and paint pedigrees, I don't know what would be a good blood line to look
for in Clydes? As far as my intentions with a clyde, I would like to buy something that I could show. I love halter, and western
pleasure, but are they pretty versitile?
Well I will leave it at that for now. I have many more questions but I
don't want to bombard you all at once! I know you are very busy! Well thank you so much for your time and patience with

We are just getting started with our first Clydesdale two
year old.,,,,,,, I've always trained my own horses,,,,,,,,, but this is my first draft.,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I was looking at
different bits ,,,,,,,,,and planned on starting her in a basic snaffle.,,,, I really like my myler snaffle ,,,,,,,,but I don't
think they come in draft, and I'm not sure if they can be...modified. ,,,,,,,,,What would be your suggestion? ..........I
saw a butterfly bit which the leverage could increase as needed...... We will be teaching her to carriage drive and ride western...........
In using regular saddles, do they sit on top .......and therefore not pinch if they are narrow in the gullet? ........We're
having one custom built and I see that some draft saddles are selling as 9 inches in the gullet. ......I like the idea
of a correction bit.....too. so maybe go from some kind of basic snaffle to having a correction bit modified?....... thanks........ Tammy

set - each shoe is hand forged. ...... We don't trip anymore - got rid of the short toe ..............gave
him back his big front foot and he steps higher now.......... like he's got his own feet back and not some store
bought shoes just nailed onto his big feet. ............ He's learning to use himself forward,............ the
curb chain is good for lifting his shoulder, ...............keep him on his feet but he is high headed when in the show ring. .......... It
does not take much. .......He is quite sweet. and then is is ultimately lazy - are we done yet....... Loves
to have a bath and drink out of the hose.... and eat carrots on the wash rack. ... He's never been sick. .............Had
a happy childhood growing up with another foal and then he went into the herd and he is very social - loves to play............Went to his first horse show last month............ thaks connie ....my spelling sucks too...dont worry. ....i too went thru a spell
of not using chemicals.... but gave that up because ...i couldnt stand watching my horses suffer with bugs ....i
tried all the organice and expensive stuff too
and no it does not work ....you are right .....im back
to chemicals ...i use undure fly spray every day in bad bug season ....the only thing you have to watch out
for is sweat ...if they get sweaty its bad ...the concoction of sweat acid and fly spray will blister skin ...specially
in sensitive areas like sheaths udders eyes noses ...
keeping your horses bathed on a weekly basis helps too ...so
does a daily walk thru the pasture with the weel barrow and fork ...good luck ...i wish i had more help

numbers.........i know of only a small handful in the whole country. .........i am the best but most expensive...............most
people cannot afford my price but i..... do have an empty training stall right now and............... might consider lowering my price just to fill it ............
if you have the money..i mean...........im not pressuring you .........jut letting you know of a rare opportunity. .........
i usually dont have an opening but ..........the michigan economy is tankded right now and my stall hs been emply for
a while ..........i know of no quality trainers......... who accept drafts in the ohio area ........most trainers
will only laugh at you if ........you mention a draft horse to ride ...........i can only offer two things..........my
