Girths and cinches
 western cinches
 english girths
western
people say cinch and English people say girth it is the same thing
My western girths are always leather one single stainless steel buckle at each end
My western cinches measure 46 inches on
my two-year olds and 50 inches on my mature horses
My English girths are always the finest available
leather contoured and very soft padded supple overlaid with a strap sewed into the middle and two
buckles at each end
The biggest difference in my English girths is that they have elastic straps going to the buckles on only one end...the other end is non-elastic straps
My English girths measure
58 inches on my two year olds. 65 inches on my mature horses
,these girths
have two smaller stainless steel buckles with rollers at each end.
I know many of you out there
use rope strand girths and cinches and that is fine only if you constantly wash them and keep the buckles oiled.
The consequences for not doing this include rashes funguses blisters
lesions, crabby cinchy horses
My girth straps on my western saddles are usually
nylon just because they slide a lot easier
they work just as well.
they have
no effect on the horse one way or another, and they are so much cheaper
Your local harness
or saddle maker can easily custom cut a good quality girth or cinch for youany length you need, as wide as
you want and out of any material such as leather or nylon
Make sure you pay attention to the
stitching and the quality of rivets.
Always insist on stainless hardware
